The Strelitzia reginae is the best known and most popular Strelitzia in cultivation. It also displays the recognisable, striking, orange and blue bird-like flowers that sit amongst the foliage that give it its name Bird of Paradise. As a house plant it is revered for its tall, architectural leaves that add an instant pop of tropical. Grows best in a sunny position but will tolerate part shade, preferring a drier, well drained soil. This is a very hardy, low maintenance plant.
